The Tulpehocken High School boys’ soccer team got the PIAA State Tournament underway on Nov. 6 with a game against Saucon Valley, the District 2 runners-up. Thanks to a pair of goals by Brandon Daub, the Trojans came away with a 3-2 victory.
Daub’s first goal came in the first half, which turned out to be the only goal of the half. But things opened up in the second half, starting with Saucon Valley’s Anh Nguyen scoring the game-tying goal.
Then Daub and Robert Ekvall scored one goal each to stretch a 3-1 lead out. Saucon Valley cut the lead to one later in the half to make things a little interesting at the end, but it was Tulpehocken that was able to hang on to the win.
Tulpehocken outshot Saucon Valley, 10-7, as Derek Kissling made two saves in goal for the Trojans.
